The Brookside Hurricanes begin

The Brookside Hurricanes name was established in 2008 — a new identity at a new pool, built on the foundation of a program that came before it. From 2008 through 2014, the team began to take shape through steady seasons, a growing roster, and the early signs of a coaching culture that would become central to the program’s identity. These years gave the Hurricanes their roots.

Learning from the inside

During these seasons, Coach Dalton joined the staff as an assistant and began learning the program from the ground up. What started as a few years of growth and experience would eventually lead into his role as head coach in 2018, while the coaching pipeline and staff culture that defined the next decade were beginning to take shape.

A staff of seven, a new direction

In 2018, Coach Dalton stepped into the role of head coach and began leading the program with a clear vision for what Brookside could become. With a committed staff and a growing belief in the team’s potential, this season marked the beginning of a coaching culture built on development, continuity, and genuine investment in people. Among that staff was Erin Kerrigan, beginning a coaching journey that would become one of the program’s most steady pillars, marked by loyalty, consistency, and a lasting impact on the athletes and coaches around her.

The roster grows

Nick Maranto and Erin Pechin joined the coaching staff, beginning two long-standing chapters in the program’s history. Together with Erin Kerrigan, they would become part of a steady leadership core that helped shape the culture beneath the surface, one built on trust, consistency, and a genuine sense of family.

COVID-19 — the blank line

The team was ready, and the staff was in place. But like so much else, the 2020 season was interrupted by the pandemic. It remains the one gap in the record — a season that never happened, but still belongs to the story.

The most impactful season

After a year away, swimming returned, and the Brookside Hurricanes came back stronger. Five new coaches joined the staff in a single season, including Allegra Craft, now entering her sixth season on staff, and Jack Pechin, who would go on to coach for five years. With the steady leadership of Erin Kerrigan, Nick Maranto, and Erin Pechin already helping anchor the staff, what could have been a rebuilding year became one of the strongest seasons in program history.

The Hurricane family grows

Jackson Tishler, Tres Black, and Sophia Peterson joined the staff, continuing the program’s pattern of developing coaches from within. By this point, Brookside’s coaching culture was no longer just something that happened naturally, it had become a system built through consistency, mentorship, trust, and the example set by the coaches before them.

Season 5

A trio of leadership & continuity

This season became the closing chapter for one of the program’s most impactful coaching trios: Erin Kerrigan, Erin Pechin, and Nick Maranto. Their loyalty, consistency, and leadership helped define the culture of the Brookside Hurricanes during some of its strongest years, and their influence continued through the coaches they helped shape. Jack Pechin, Allegra Craft, and others grew stronger within the standard this trio helped build, carrying that culture forward into the next chapter of the program. As that chapter came to a close, Ashlyn Augustine joined the staff as a first-year coach — a reminder that Brookside’s coaching story has always been built through both legacy and new beginnings.

The Next Generation of Leaders

In 2024, the handoff from one generation of leadership to the next became real. Following the departure of Erin Kerrigan, Erin Pechin, and Nick Maranto, Jack Pechin and Allegra Craft stepped into bigger roles and grew tremendously as leaders, helping carry forward the standard that had been built before them. Arden, Hannah, Harper, and Sean also joined the staff that season—four coaches who would become core members of the current team. The program was evolving, but the culture held strong.

Eleven strong & One Championship

The 2025 season marked the largest coaching staff in program history, with Chris Ege and Mary Claire joining a team that had real depth at every level. What began with eight coaches in 2018 had nearly doubled in size, while the standard, culture, and quality of the staff continued to rise. That growth helped set the stage for a major program milestone: Brookside’s first Divisional Championship meet under Coach Dalton’s tenure.
